I just read about this interesting twist on those Rescue Alert stickers you place on the window of your home telling rescue personnel how many cats and/or dogs are in your house. PetPlan, a pet insurance company, had developed a personalized version that allows you to add a photo of your pet(s) — up to three — from either a webcam or digital photo. You personalize it, print it and put in a window or on your front door. It tells firemen how many pets you have, what they look like and what to call them. So, hopefully, everyone makes it out unharmed. Here’s a link to their Custom Rescue Alert Sticker Maker.
A nice idea. But I have to chuckle… to cover all my pets I would have to print 15 stickers. That would likely fill the whole front door or a whole window. Fortunately, when I am away from home, most of the dogs are outside. That would cut down on how many stickers I would need, I suppose.
On another note, I read somewhere that you should put stickers on multiple windows in the event rescue personnel do not access your house from the front where you might have your sticker. It makes sense. So print a few and put them on the front the side and the back of your home. What could it hurt?
FYI: beingStray is in no way associated with PetPlan. I just thought this was a nice service to offer and wanted to pass it along.
