Lucky Ducks Repeat Last Year’s Ritual

By isak, May 20, 2009

Last year, Washington banker Joel Armstrong watched a mother duck sit on her nest of eggs on an overhang outside his office window. A little over a month later, the eggs hatched and there were now several ducklings perched high above the sidewalk and a couple blocks from the Spokane River. As they leapt off the overhang, Joel caught them.

This year was no different. Over the weekend, the eggs hatched and the brood found themselves in the same predicament. When Joel arrived, they were pacing nervously back and forth along the edge of the overhang. Their mother was below them on the sidewalk. Joel caught each one as they leapt.
