I finally got around to reading this article from USA Today about pet-food pantries. It originally appeared in the 24 December 2008 edition of the newspaper — when I still had a job. Reading it last night, I noticed some web addresses I want to save for future reference and share with anyone who may also need the info. The list includes websites that are workinging to compile a nationwide list of pet-food pantries:
- pikespeakpetpantry.org
- food and financial assistance
- financial aid for pets
- save our pets food bank
- rescue bank in Houston and a story about them
I am working on a website called will work for dog food dot org to see if I can hawk my wares for dog and cat food money. Aside from my mortgage, pet food is my biggest expense each month as 1,000 pounds of dog food and 40-50 pounds of cat food is consumed. Perhaps it is still part of the embarrassment at being unemployed or the fear that accompanies being laid off, but I need to find a source for pet food money.

Many thanks for letting me know about the problem with the link. I have corrected it.
I clicked on the first link pikespeakpetpantry.org and it doesn’t work. I think its just pikespeakpetpantry.org , as I typed that in my browser and it worked. Hope this helps.
