  1. Joann says:

Can you help me find a pet food bank in Habersham County Baldwin Georgia I’m a senior and on a fixed-income or if there is a cheap online place to buy cheaper cat food and litter please help my fur babies.

    • isak says:

Check with your local people food banks. They often stock pet food. If they don’t, ask them if they know who does.

You can also check with local pet rescue groups for suggestions.

I am not familiar with Georgia, but maybe these links will help:

      Food pantries

      Some more food banks

Good luck and hugs to your fur babies.

  3. Roxann Berger says:

Who can I contact about getting free dog and cat food in York, PA. Our senior center used to give it out but they stopped doing it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  4. Becky says:

I live in the Bay Area and called the Contra Costa shelter that you have listed here. Their recorded message says that they are closed due to Covid. I don’t see any other option in this area.

    • isak says:

Check the local people food banks in your area. Most are stocking pet food and supplies these days. Plus they may have drive-thru/curbside options.

  5. Sandy says:

Anyplace in South East Missouri that can help with food and such? Please

    • isak says:

Have you checked with your local food banks? Many have begun stocking pet food. And these:

I’m not sure exactly where you are located but maybe one of these will help (scroll to the bottom of the page): https://www.a4apetpantry.org/pet-assistance.php

      Good luck.

  6. Mathilde Kohler says:

Empty Bowl Pet Food Pantry : Pet assistance for disaster victims and veterans, seniors, domestic violence victims, functionally disabled people with service animals, homeless and near homeless people; special programs include pet food and supplies, temporary housing for emergencies. See map for locations and services, which change regularly.

  7. Sagine lee says:

I was looking for help here in Florida I just lost my job and my little babies are in need of cat food I have four kittens and two older cats about 1years old

    • isak says:

I’m so sorry to hear about your situation. Check out the places on our list for Florida. If none are close by, check the food banks in your area, including local churches. They generally stock pet food as well as people food. You might also check with stores about broken bags. Sometimes they just throw them out because they cannot sell them. You can also check with local rescue groups for suggestions as well. Maybe they can help.

Best to you and be safe.

  8. Betty Crawford says:

You need to include 4 Paws Pantry located in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

  9. Michele says:

Anyone know of a pet food bank in the Chicago area that can bring cat food to me? I am disabled, don’t have car, and no money for bus at the moment. Appreciate any help, thanks.

    • isak says:

You may check with your local people food banks, especially those set up through churches. Many people food banks now include pet food. And maybe someone from the church would drop food off to you if you are nearby.

  10. crysta says:

I am in fort lauderdale, I found one in west palm, but i the peer I am serving has no car, limited funds, and no access to food. I figured west palm is only one that is in south florida. Hoping miami maybe had one or anywhere closer to fort lauderdale

    i appreciate the help

    • isak says:

Check local people food banks because many of them are carrying pet food these days. You might also check with local pet rescue groups and veterinary clinics for suggestions. Good luck.

  11. Crystal says:

Does anyone know of a pet food bank in South florida. I tried looking at the one that is listed under florida, but it does not state if they have a food bank

    • isak says:

I just googled “south florida pet food bank” and the first result was a map of several locations in south Florida for pet food banks. I can’t see how to get a link for that map and I don’t know what area of south Florida you are in, so maybe you can do that same google search and see the map. I hope that helps.

  12. R. Sigda says:

I am A person on SSA who has 30 cats all in side they are fix there ages run from 20 year old to 3 years old being on a fix income at 927.00 A month it hard to feed all my cats I will not give them up. But if there any way you can help me please let me know beside when people come in my home they don,t beleve I have that may cats for it dose not smell.

    • isak says:

Good for you for caring for these cats and having them all spayed/neutered. Have you checked with your local people food banks? They often carry pet food these days. You could also check with stores in your area that sell pet food to see if you might be allowed to have their broken bags of cat food. These are generally just thrown away because the pet food companies don’t want them back. And look for coupons — both online and in your local magazines and newspapers.

Also check with local pet rescue groups for suggestions.

I order my pet food from chewy.com. I have found their price to be the same and sometimes even less than the price at the local stores. After you spend $49, the shipping is free. Maybe that would be an option for you?

  13. Amelie P Brunner says:

Please remove Wst Virginia’s link. The page no longer exists.

  14. Tina Anthony says:

I am 55 years old and on a fixed income and I’m trying to find somebody to help me out with cat food

    • isak says:

You didn’t mention where you are located. Have you checked with your local food banks? Many now stock pet food as well as people food. And most communities have several food banks — some are through churches. Also check with local rescue groups, shelters and local vets for suggestions. I’m sure there is someone that can help or has a suggestion for you. Best to you.

  15. Linda says:

They do not do this anymore i just called becuz i am desperate for animal food it was dead end FYI

    • isak says:

I’m so sorry. Which group are you talking about? I’ll remove them from the list. Have you contacted your area food banks for people? They often carry pet food now. Also contact area rescue groups. Knowing your area, they may be able to refer you to someone who can help you.

  16. chelsea says:

My boyfriend’s little sister started with 2 cats, which quickly turned into 18. She has 2 new litters of kittens and it is getting hard for her family to purchase food for them. Are there any programs that help with this? She couldn’t bare to let them go or shelter them. Thank you!

    • isak says:

You didn’t say where you are located. You need to help these kittens and by that I mean that if you cannot get them spayed and neutered as soon as possible, you need to find someone to help you find good homes for them. Otherwise your situation will only get harder as they continue breed. Contact every rescue group in your area for help. Maybe one group can take 2-3 and another group 2-3, etc. But make calls and if anyone is unable to help, ask them for recommendations. But start as soon as possible. If there are food banks in your area, contact them. They often carry pet food.

  17. Luisa says:

A “friend” all of a sudden left town to take a job promotion from her already very good paid job 5 hours from here. She feeded a 20 cats feral colony. We helped with
    several cans only, every day.
My husband is a senior, disabled on SSI and I am on a wheelchair. She gave no promise of helping us with food. Now we have a whole colony and nobody to help us. Where can we get food to feed them?

    • isak says:

I don’t know where you are located, but you need to contact a rescue group that works with feral cats. Beyond food, they will need to be spayed/neutered else your 20 will quickly become more. You can do a google search for “—your area— feral cat rescue” and that will hopefully get you started.

I’m sorry you are in this position. And let us know how it goes.

  18. Brad Duthoy says:

I have two cats that my daughter found in a box when they wher small but it’s geting hard for me to make ends meet , I want them don’t get me wrong my daughter love them and they are very much a part so our family I’m on disability and it’s to pay rent and som bills ,I have 4kids and i try my best to care for them and the cats ,we some times recycle to feed the cats and buy there cat litter it would be much appreciated if I can get help form a donation animal food pantry

    • isak says:

How good of your daughter to save these babies. Cats are a wonderful part of any family.

Have you tried your local people food pantry? They often stock pet supplies these days. Also check with your local rescue groups. They have a lot of knowledge about available help in your neighborhood and can best guide you. Good luck to you. There is help out there. It just takes a little effort sometimes to find it.

  19. Susan Tomlinson says:

My name is sue.I have 3 pitbull dogs.Ages 13..5..& 4.Can you please help me get food for my dogs,Iim on a limited income.I live in Harrisburg.PA.

    • isak says:

Have you checked your local people food banks? Many are including pet food in their banks now. These include church food banks as well. Ask at your vet clinic what programs they may be aware of. Also contact local rescue groups — especially Pit Bull groups — for suggestions. Because they are in your area, they will be better able to guide you than I can. I’m sorry I am not more helpful to your specific situation. Best to you and your babies.

    • Gina says:

      Susan,

You may have already checked the assistance listed by state, but there is one resource listed right in Harrisburg:

      Humane Society of Harrisburg

You may have found this by now, but I thought I’d let you know, just in case you missed it.

      Good luck,
      Gina

  20. leslie says:

SPCA Maui has a food bank programme on Fridays at the “green church” located on South Kihei Road near the paramedics. 9-10 AM fridays. You need to be registered for the human food pantry that give out food at the same time.

  21. bryan lundquist says:

were can i find free dog food in little rock arkansas i have 3 dogs 2 cats in need help with food for them

    • isak says:

Have you checked with some of the local food banks for people? They often stock pet food these days. Maybe they can help you or give you a suggestion on who can help you. Best to you and your “kids.”

    • isak says:

Wherever pet food is sold, there will be broken bags of food. And generally, they throw it away. You might ask them if you can have some of it. This includes grocery stores and pet stores, etc.

      Have you tried these places?

Senior Pet Food Pantry: 2608 CENTER STREET AT THE EXISTING HUMANE SOCIETY BLDG.

Maple Valley Community Center: In partnership with the Humane Society, GMVCC 50+ Programs provide free pet food for low income seniors who would otherwise be unable to keep their pets. For application information, contact Tracy or Jamie or call 425-432-1272.

Here’s a list of some you can call. If they are not close by, maybe they will be able to suggest others that are near you.

Im a single mom of a 9 year old . In the last 2 years I have broke free of a very abusive relationship that I never thought would end without my death. I have been doing wonderful until last month we had a breakin and I also lost a job I loved and actually enjoyed going to for the last year. All of my funds have been exhaused in keeping up the bills and replacing stolen items. We are barely survivng right now and I have what I refer to as a “zoo” 3 dogs (2 of which I rescued) 2 cats (1 rescue) and 3 birds (2 rescues) I love them all dearly and have had most since they were babies. My oldest is a 12 year old black I can not imagine having to give up any of my “children” but I can not seem to find any resources in my area. Could you please point me in the right direction for obtaining any kind of assistance in the Statesville NC area? I would appreciate it more than you could ever know. Thanks for your time.

Have you tried food banks for people? Many of them now include pet food because they realize that pets are an important part of our families. Food banks come in many shapes and sizes — some are set up through churches, some through volunteer groups, etc, so you may need to call some of the churches in your area and ask if they know of any.

You might also ask stores that sell pet food if they have broken bags they might donate to you. They often throw away broken bags of pet food. Maybe start with the “dollar” store types of stores. The larger pet stores often donate their broken bags to rescue groups. But it certainly can’t hurt to ask them.

Maybe someone reading this blog will know Stateville and can offer more suggestions.

Good luck. I’m glad to hear you have finally gotten out of a bad relationship and can now concentrate on moving forward again. I’m sorry to hear about the break-in. Best to you and hugs to your “zoo.”

I’m not sure where you are exactly in Georgia and what might be nearby, but here are some links. Contact as many as you can. If they are unable to help, ask them if they can suggest someone. Some rescue groups may help you find homes for your pups if you tell them that you will foster them until a home is found.

Are they spayed/neutered? There are usually no cost/low cost programs that will help so your numbers do not get any bigger. Males can generally be fixed for less than females. Some places offer great discounts a couple times a month and other places always have lower prices.

Some of these links include help with pet food. These days, many food banks and food pantries also stock pet food. Check with them. Also check where pet food is sold. Ask if they have any broken bags of food that you can have. The stores generally just throw those bags out and the pet food company credits them back for the broken bags of food.

Good luck and just keep calling/writing people. Don’t give up. If you want to send us some photos, we will gladly post them on our website and social media sites. Let me know and I’ll give you a place to upload them. Please keep us posted.

  30. My and is Esther Thorsen and jam trying to locate where ican get help in getting some aid in feeding my dog I am a senior and find it very hard to make ends meet at the end of the months any help would be appricated thank you my address Brooklyn, New York 11228.

    • isak says:

I removed your actual address just because it seems like a good idea. There is a website called the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals. They offer several resources for help. Give them a try. If they don’t seem able to help, ask them for further resources. Many food pantries now stock pet supplies, so check them as well.

  31. rose w. says:

    I have
two cats of my own and my friend died last June and left me her two cats so now I have 4. I am a senior citizen on security and I was just making it with my own two cats. I promised my friend if anything happened to her I would take care of her cats and I want to keep them but financially it is getting hard to feed them and provide litter. most of the time I do okay but o once in awhile I just need some help to feed them into to provide litter. any help for reference you can provide will be appreciated

    • isak says:

So good of you to be such a wonderful friend. I’m not sure where you are located, but more and more food pantries for people are starting to carry pet supplies. That might be a good place to start. Were you able to find any groups on the list on this page that are in your area?
