(Update: we just added some DIY TRULY FREE stickers. Scroll down to the end of this post to download them.)
For a limited time, IHeartDogs is offering a FREE 2 pack of stickers (you pay shipping).
The stickers are a nice idea. But I have to chuckle… to cover all my pets I would have to print a BUNCH of stickers. That would likely fill the whole front door or a whole window. I guess that would catch the attention of anyone entering in an emergency. Fortunately, when I am away from home, most of the dogs are outside. That would cut down on how many stickers I would need, I suppose.
On another note, I read somewhere that you should put stickers on multiple windows in the event rescue personnel do not access your house from the front where you might have your sticker. It makes sense. So print a few and put them on the front the side and the back of your home. What could it hurt?
The ASPCA also offers a Pet Safety Pack. In the event of an emergency, our pet rescue window decal alerts rescue personnel that pets are inside your home. The safety pack also includes an ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center magnet—a great way to keep the APCC’s toll-free emergency number and website address handy in case your pets get into something they shouldn’t!
You can also make your own. Use brightly colored paper, add a title — ANIMALS INSIDE, write down you info, cover it in plastic (so it lasts) and tape it to your windows.
If you have a printer at home, you can download these stickers by clicking on the one you want (or both), print them out and fill in your info. For extra protection, you can slip them into plastic sleeves, then tape them to your doors and windows. There are four on an 8.5″x11″ page and you can print as many as you want. For FREE! Here are your choices.
FYI: beingStray is in no way associated with PetPlan or IHeartDog. I just thought this was a nice service to offer and wanted to pass it along.
