Removing Pet Urine Odors

I’ve got a couple tips for removing pet odors.

One is a product that cleans pet odors and more. It’s a product called Odokleen. I love the smell of it and it cuts through the pet odors. It’s a really good all-purpose cleaner. Great for pet odors in the yard, too.

I also have a recipe that uses stuff you might already have in your kitchen:
16 oz. 3% hydrogen peroxide
2 tsp. baking soda
2 drops of dish soap

To make a gallon:
4: 32 oz. bottles of peroxide
1/3 c. baking soda
1/2 tsp. dish soap

Just pour it on the source of the odor and let it bubble up for a while. Then blot it. Repeat if necessary. Someone told me this is the basis for the old “volcano” project from science class. I remember my brother building a volcano, but I don’t remember how they made the lava flow.

On painted floors, I sometimes pour straight bleach on a urine problem. But stand back because this will foam up and create a powerful smell. The chemical reaction even makes the stuff get pretty warm. But it does a good job when you just feel the need to blast that damn odor right out of there. However, I don’t recommend this approach for most surfaces. It will etch into some, like formica-like counter tops.
