There was a story on Oprah today about a dog that had been tied to a stake and used as bait for pit bulls in a dogfighting ring. “He’d been thrown in a cage and left to die, and the police raided the facility,” Larry, Oogy’s new owner, says. The puppy was taken to the vet where he endured several operations to fix his face and repair his jaw and other serious problems. But he survived. And was adopted by a family. Here’s their story.
His new family calls Oogy an “indomitable survivor.” I think those two words so aptly explain that vigor for life animals possess. I award Oogy’s family the Golden Corner Award for allowing Oogy to adopt them.
I saw this story on Oprah, too. What an incredible spirit this dog has for surviving such a painful ordeal. And what a lucky dog to be rescued, then adopted by such a great family.
